Sample Itinerary - A Weekend Break to Ludlow

This is an example of one of our walking holiday itineraries. We will create your itinerary to ensure that you have the maximum benefit of your time here and will tailor each group’s itineraries according to your interests, fitness and other particular wishes.

Day 1

Arrive at the Lodge from 3pm in time for tea and freshly baked cake. (Complimentary pick up is available from Ludlow Station) Settle into your rooms and take a walk around the grounds.

Enjoy a light dinner at the Lodge prepared with fresh local produce.

Day 2

Start your day with a visit to our unique Georgian cold bath for an early morning plunge.

After a delicious breakfast, Arabella will talk you through your first day's walk and provide you with maps, directions, GPX files of the routes and packed lunches, or lunch stop recommendations in Ludlow. Your walk will begin from the front door of The Lodge.

Today’s walk will take you on a circular route via Ludlow enabling you to enjoy all the delights of Ludlow. Full walking time approximately 3- 4 hours (without stops). (Direct walk into Ludlow 30 mins).

Highlights along the way will include: Ludlow Castle, Ludlow Museum and St Laurence’s Church. Ludlow is full of lovely coffee shops, fantastic antiques and vintage clothing shops so there is lots to explore and savour.

Tea and cake will be ready for your return.

We would love to invite you to enjoy a two or three course dinner in the dining room. Pre dinner cocktails and canapes can be provided. Wine is also available with dinner.

After dinner, as something special, you can enjoy the spectacle of a "Moth and Bat" safari, set up on our side lawn.

Day 3

Start your day with a re-energising class of yoga.

After a delicious breakfast, Arabella will talk you through your second day walk and the sights you will see. Maps, directions, GPX files and packed lunches will be provided. Again your walk will begin from the front door of The Lodge

Todays walk will take you across our farm to Richard's Castle and through Mortimers Forest. Approximate walking time 4-5 hours (not including stops).

Highlights will definitely include the geological evidence of the Ludlow Anticline (dating back 428 million years) the historic ruins of Richard’s Castle, one of only three pre-Norman motte and Bailey castles and the medieval church St Bartholomew’s.

The wildlife and flora and fauna along the way is stunning; smell the wild garlic; marvel at the carpet of bluebells on Climbing Jack and listen to the dulcet tones of the sky lark on Hanway Common.

Packed lunches will be provided. Alternatively I would be delighted to bring and set up a buffet lunch along the route.

Your walk will bring you back to The Lodge for tea and cake before departing.
